It’s a Nightmare on Bishop Road!

Family transforms house with horror classics

SOME of cinema’s most scariest characters will be seen creeping about in a North Staffordshire street this Halloween – as part of a family’s picture show.

Dale and Danielle Whitehurst asked son Ethan Weston to put together a 10-minute video featuring scenes from classic horror films.

It will be projected on to the side of their house in Bishop Road, Chell Heath tomorrow while the family reward trick or treaters with sweets.

Characters will even interact with the windows and porch, as the show has been specially designed to fit the front of the house.

Danielle suggested the idea after seeing similar projects in the United

States, while Ethan put it together.

Dale said: “It’s the culmination of my wife’s obsession and my son being pretty techie and so able to put it all together.

“She just asked my son if we could do something like that.

“He looked into it and said it was doable. He’s certainly outshone my expectations!”

The projection will play on a loop and feature characters such as Pennywise the clown from Stephen King’s It and Ghostface from the Scream franchise.

“As soon as it goes dark we’re going to start looping the projection show,” said Dale.

“Rather than having people walking down the driveway and knocking on we’ll be at the end of the garden handing out sweets and treats.

“There’s an ‘It’ scene for Pennywise, the house turns into a circus tent.

“Scream’s Ghostface is also featured – he’s in each window creeping about.”

Barber Dale is very proud of the handiwork of Ethan, aged 23.

He said: “There’s been about

6-8 weeks worth of work and programming to create the scenes for a ten minute projection show, so it’s been quite a project.

“It’s definitely something different. I’m chuffed with it. It’s not your usual pumpkins in the garden, which is what we do most years, this year we’ve stepped up a little bit. “Depending on how this goes I think the next step is a big Christmas show.”

Dale himself is also set to make a cameo, as he and Ethan had to film some animations for the terrifying Scream killer. “Because we couldn’t get any animated Scream characters, we had to do that ourselves,” said Dale.

“We set up a green screen in the back room and I had to dress up and do the actions against the background.

“So when you see Ghostface creeping across the porch and climbing through a window, that’s actually me!”

■ The show will start on Halloween, and anyone who wants to go and take a look can go to Bishop Road in Chell Heath.
