A FURIOUS landlord believes a barred drinker is behind another vandal attack on his Stoke-on-trent pub.

A window was put through at the Traveller’s Rest, in Goldenhill, for the second time this year.

Licensee Ged Edwards, right, saw the broken glass when he arrived at work on Monday morning.

CCTV captured the moment a hooded man took aim with the missile at around 1.20am.

The 58-year-old said: “He comes down from the side of the pub and is holding something in front of his face as he comes past the cameras.

“He goes down the back of the entry and comes out with a roofing tile and a brick.

“He throws the roofing tile first, which bounces off the window, and then he throws a bigger brick which comes straight through.

“He runs up in the same direction back towards Rodgers Street. It’s the front window again, the same as last time.

“I pulled up at 7.30am and saw the windows smashed. Straightaway I thought ‘here we go again’. I knew it would be the same perpetrator as it was before.”

The first incident happened in April, which saw Ged having to fit a new window.

He added: “The police have got to do something because it’s happened twice now. It’s just one person. “The first time we opened back in April there were outside tables and we said you can’t come in.

“I had loads of threatening texts on Facebook, which I’ve given to the police.

“After that, the windows were broken.

“I don’t know what it’s about. I don’t understand it. It’s a joke.

“He is bitter because we’ve barred him.

“The first time around my house windows were smashed as well.

“This time, hopefully, we will have more DNA. We’ve had replacement glass put in. It’s single glazed whilst the double unit is made up.

“There was glass everywhere so I had to be scrupulous and clean the glass because there were big pieces and smaller shards of glass.

“It’s the inconvenience and the fact they are doing it because of a grudge due to me not letting them in the pub.”

A Staffordshire Police spokesperson said: “Officers responded to reports of criminal damage at a premises in Goldenhill. At approximately 1.20am on Monday, November 1, it is believed that a brick was used to break the windows of a property in the area. An investigation is ongoing.”

Anyone with any information should message Staffordshire Police on Facebook or Twitter quoting incident number 111 of November 1, or call 101.
