BETLEY TURN IN FIVE-STAR SHOW TO STRETCH OUT AT THE SUMMIT

FOOTBALL: Betley extended their lead at the top of the CREWE REGIONAL LEAGUE Premier Division with a 5-0 victory over Cheshire Cheese.

Kieran duckers scored a hattrick for the leaders - who are five points clear - with Mitch Weedall and a Danny Lavette penalty completing the comfortabl­e success. Winnington SC produced a strong second-half performanc­e to beat Broadhurst 3-1.

The derby clash started well for Broadhurst with Steve Jenyons giving them the lead at the interval. However, it was a different story after the break as Craig Humphries, Chris Lawrence and Joe Clarkson replied to secure the points for Winnington. Audlem beat Sandbach Town 2-1 in their top-of-the-table clash in Division One. Paul Bowker put Audlem ahead before Jay Street levelled matters.

Nick Gregory was the hero of the hour for Audlem as he notched the winner. Winsford Over 3 are now in second place after beating Princes Feathers 3-0. Thomas Stanton, Lewis young and Jake Wright were their marksmen.

JS Bailey moved off the bottom of the standings with a 4-1 win at Ruskin park. Liam Millington’s double was added to by Ramirez Machado and Greg Bailey for the visitors, while Ben Clark netted for Ruskin Park.

IN the CREWE & DISTRICT LEAGUE, Sandbach Curshaws beat Crewe Town 3-1.

Darren Bailey, Sam Critchley and Lee Mellor were on the scoresheet for unbeaten curshaws, while Crewe dropped down to third after losing their record. Curshaws, the defending champions, are how three points clear at the summit. Sandbach Town were 2-1 winners at FC Bollington. Tom Edwards and Billy O’neil-nash were the goalscorer­s for the visitors. In the first Mary Dendy derby of the season it was Mary Dendy who claimed the bragging rights over Mary Dendy 1982 with a 3-1 win. Scoring for the home side was Michael Gilligan, Jack Cooper and Rick Passoni, Tom Wakefield with the Mary Dendy 1982 consolatio­n. Sandbach Town Ramblers squeezed past Crewe Wanderers with a 2-1 win their goals being scored by Tim Lamb and Andy Holloway - a result that lifts them to second place in the table.
