‘I’m not bothered about friends. I just want to get out of the tinpot division’

-

PORT Vale will be looking to build on their remarkable run of ten wins from 12 games when they host Bradford City in front of the Sky cameras on Saturday (noon). Talking issues on and off the pitch are our fans’ panel of SCOTT LINGARD, from Sneyd Green, and AARON RIGBY from Perth, Australia.

WHAT’S YOUR PREDICTION? Scott Lingard: We have in the past somewhat faltered when on TV, but something tells me that we will continue on with our great form and I can foresee Vale winning 2-0. Aaron Rigby: We have won 10 out of our last 12 games in all competitions. Bradford have been hit and miss, so I fancy us to get another win, 3-0 and end the day top.

ANY OTHER BUSINESS?

Scott Lingard: After the major boost of the cup result last weekend there is a feel-good factor around the club.

We have had a few years of having it tough as Vale fans, but you do feel like with the current players, management and owners, that you need to pinch yourself to see if its not just a dream.

The unseen heroes behind the scenes are the ones that deserved to be thanked, as it’s clear they are making Clarke’s job easier both on and off the pitch.

I love the way that we clearly work on a game by game basis, not looking to supposed ‘big’ games and resting players.

The next game is the most important game we play, not a game two or three matches away. The players are all seemingly on board with this as well, as they clearly are showing on the pitch.

It’s a long time since we have had such optimism at the club. And long may it continue, which I have no doubt it will.

I have been impressed with how effective the manager’s substitutions have gone over the season. Invariably the players he brings on make a change to the game, and as we have seen against Orient, Colchester and Barrow, have scored and won us the games.

James Wilson capped a brilliant few games with a hat-trick on Saturday, and his class is now starting to show week in week out.

Another manager of the month award shows just how far we have come since last season.

We have only one away fixture during November, and if we capitalise on this, it will put us in a great position going into the sometimes difficult festive period.

If you look at the fixtures of the teams around us, they have some tough looking games, and fingers crossed we can really push on now. We start this weekend with the televised game against Bradford, who are a team that always are a force to be reckoned with, and it will be a great game to watch hopefully.

Aaron Rigby: It’s so good being a Vale fan at the moment.

We are winning comfortably, playing excellent stuff and no matter who plays, they do a job for the team. Darrell Clarke has proven himself to be a great tactician.

This squad is the strongest it has been in a long time.

Leon Legge is now available for selection but will struggle to get in ahead of Dan Jones, Nathan Smith or Lewis Cass and we have coped without Jamie Proctor.

It was disappointing as an expat not being able to watch our game against Accrington due to licensing restrictions imposed for the FA Cup.

I did listen to live commentary and it sounded like once we got our first goal we then dominated the rest of the game. John Coleman was less than complimentary and his interview reeked of sour grapes, a bit like John Yems after we dismantled Crawley.

I don’t care if we make few friends this season, let’s just get out of this tinpot league and keep moving forwards.
