LIONS ROAR TO BANK POINTS IN THEIR CLASH WITH TALBOT

THE Lions beat Talbot 6-4 in their CREWE REGIONAL LEAGUE meeting.

Lions had to battle back, though, after finding themselves 2-0 and 4-3 down at various stages. Liam Whittaker (2), Ryan Moss and Joe Goodier scored for the home side. For The Lions, Mile Blundell netted a hat-trick, with Jordan Amson, Russell Schofield and Deon Chesters also on target. Winnington SC were held to a 1-1 draw by Cheshire Cheese. Dale Campbell scored for the home side, with Shaun Bradley getting a late equaliser for the visitors.

NHB continue to progress after a quiet start to the season, and they beat Raven Salvador 4-1. Brian Holland scored a first-half hat-trick, with Peter Aidley also netting. Rob Osman scored for the visitors. George & Dragon have a large backlog of games to complete, and they just shaded their game against Broadhurst FC winning 4-3. Joe Duckworth (2), Robbie Hatton and Ben Brown scored for the visitors, with Scott Ravenscrof­t, Steve Jenyons and Jordan Cobley being the Broadhurst marksmen.

In Division One, Cooper Buckley were too strong for JS Bailey, winning 9-0. Ashley Edwards scored three, Jason Mcmullan two, and Rhys Sumner, Jack Gater, Brad Stockton and Matt King also netted.

IN the CREWE AND DISTRICT LEAGUE, Mary Dendy 1982 faced local rivals FC Bollington in the AJ Cooke Cup.

FC Bollington led 2-1 at halftime, but Mary Dendy 1982 had other ideas and levelled the game at 2-2 in the second half before winning 6-5 on penalties.

In the league, Crewe Town and AFC Crewe drew 4-4. Scorers for Crewe Town were Liam Whitaker who bagged twice and singles for Lewis Ralphs and Fred Molyneaux. Crewe Wanderers faced an in-form Sandbach Town Ramblers who were sitting in second place.

This game went with the form book and ended with a 2-0 win for Sandbach. Sandbach Curshaws - the current champions - didn’t have it all their own way at home to Mary Dendy and were indeed trailing 1-0 at half-time before a strong comeback which saw Fraser Keena net twice and a third from substitute Lee Mellor.
