VALE FANS HAVE HUGE ROLE TO PLAY IN MISSION, SAYS PORTER

SUPPORTERS’ club chairman Mark Porter says fans will be crucial if Port Vale are to get out of League Two this season.

Darrell Clarke’s second-placed side enjoyed their biggest home gate of the season on Saturday when 7,010 saw the 1-1 draw against Bradford, and they have sold more than 1,500 tickets for Saturday’s game at Oldham.

Porter said: “The away support has always been good so it’s no surprise to me and I think we’ll sell more.

“This is going to be such a big game for the Vale. The team deserves the support and I think the fans on Saturday can play their part by getting behind the team and try to push them on to a victory that would keep us in the top three.

“It’s about the fans getting behind the club and the team like they have done so far. To have over 7,000 there on Saturday, including 800 from Bradford, was great considering it was live on TV.

“It’s only going to snowball. The Vale fans have a big part to play in the promotion push. I know people don’t want to talk about promotion, but it’s what we all want.

“The fans played their part when Micky Adams got the team promoted in 2012/13 and we can do that in 2021/22 with Darrell Clarke.

“We weren’t at our best on Saturday against Bradford but fans are still going to travel in their numbers on Saturday.

“We might go a couple of games without a win, that’s football. Even Man City lost at home to Crystal Palace the other week. But we have a team that is competing and a strong squad. When a player comes off, they are being replaced a player of equal ability.”

Meanwhile, Vale have been given a 1,900 allocation for their FA Cup second round tie at Burton Albion on December 4.

Tickets go on sale to season ticket holders, including Junior Valiants, this morning (9am) and are limited to one per person.

Vale say: “We have been allocated approximately 1,900 tickets for this match and season ticket holders (including Junior Valiants) will be able to purchase one ticket per season ticket holder from our ticket office on a first-come, first-served basis.

“Please be aware that only around 500 of the tickets that we have been allocated are seated.

“Port Vale will not be receiving any additional tickets on top of our initial allocation.

“Our ticket office will be extending its opening hours due to the anticipated high demand and be open from 9am to 7pm on both Wednesday, Nov 17 and Thursday, Nov 18.

If there are any tickets remaining, they will go on general sale following our Skybet League Two Match at home to Hartlepool United on Saturday, November 27.”

Prices are £12 adults and £5 juniors (16 and under) for standing or £15 and £8 juniors for seating.

Tickets will come off sale on Friday December 3 at 2pm and there will be none available on the day of the game.

The club has also warned supporters who try to buy over the phone.

Vale say: “We anticipate a very high demand for these tickets. If you make a ticket request by telephone (01782 655821) or via email to the ticket office (ticketoffice@port-vale. co.uk), there is unfortunately no guarantee that you will receive a match ticket. Phone calls and emails will be responded to within 48 hours. This ticket allocation is specifically for season ticket holders in the first instance and not 10-match pass holders.”

Vale earned their place in the second round with a 5-0 win over Burton’s fellow League One side Accrington Stanley.
