DACHSHUNDS have the chance to meet Santa next month – at a Christmas bash for dogs.

Lord Edward Ca van aghmainwa ring has put together the Dachshund Christmas Extravaganza at Cudmore Fisheries in Whitmore.

It will include walks around the lake, stalls, refreshments and a Santa’s grotto for dogs.

All breeds are welcome – with money raised during the event going to charity.

Dachshund fan Edward, aged 52, said he wanted dog owners to visit the fisheries and enjoy the scenery.

The dad-of-one, from Whitmore, said: “It’s a fun day out. There’s about 30 pools and up to five acres. I keep dachshunds myself. My wife secretly bought one without me knowing.

“They amuse me and we wouldn’t be without them now.

“Apart from the walk around the beautiful site and its lakes, there will be a dog-friendly café and stalls from companies selling items such as coats, harnesses, dog beds and treats for Christmas.

“A behaviourist will also be there to answer questions.

“Santa Paws will be visiting for photo opportunities and to find out which dogs have been naughty and nice.

“The aim of the day is to raise money. We do fishing matches to raise money. This is our fourth fundraising event.”

Edward said there are sessions throughout the day so everyone doesn’t turn up at the same time.

He added: “There is also a lodge which has toilets.

“It will be serving hot drinks and bacon butties and cakes. Dogs are welcome.”

All proceeds will be going to the Donna Louise Hospice, now amalgamated with the Dougie Mac, and the Red Foundation, a dachshund rescue charity.

It takes place on Sunday, December 5 from 10am to 4pm. There are morning and afternoon slots to book, but visitors are welcome to stay all day.

Tickets cost £8.50 per person, but there is no limit on the numbers that can be bought. Children’s tickets are £4.50 and family tickets £20.

All breeds are welcome but they must remain on leads at all times for the protection of wildlife and their own safety.

Around 200 dachshunds are expected to be in attendance on the day.

Tickets can be bought by looking up the Dachshund Christmas Extravaganza on Facebook or Instagram.

They are also available through Dackelblu, which will also be hosting a stall on the day.
