DANES ARE LEFT REAPING THE REWARDS OF HANCOCK’S TECHNOLOGY SKILLS

-

NICK Hancock got around the fact he doesn’t own a computer to put in his order on Amazon - but that turned out to be the easy part. Stoke City fan Hancock has been talking to comedian Mark Steel about his difficulty with 21st century technology on Steel’s latest podcast.

He had borrowed a friend’s laptop to even record the episode, having previously borrowed his son’s to unsuccessfully attempt some online shopping.

“My son doesn’t even find it funny anymore, he finds it quite depressing,” he said.

“I said to him that I’m ordering things and they don’t get delivered. “He asked me to let him have a look and said, ‘You’ve done something which is actually impossible. This can’t happen but you’ve done it. Your default address is in Denmark.’

“He said, ‘That’s not even possible! You have a British address and email address but you’re getting stuff sent to Denmark. You haven’t even put in a street name!’”

Steel chipped in: “There must be a Danish family with piles of books and stuff...”

And Hancock said: “’There’s another Stoke City oven glove, my darling, we already have nine! How many hands do you have?’ “I’m just going to give up, really.” Steel was also a guest on Hancock’s new podcast The Famous Sloping Pitch, with Chris England, writer of comedies including An Evening with Gary Lineker.

Other guests so far include Stokesupporting

football economist Mark Gregory, comedians Alan Davies and Hugh Dennis and former Stoke manager Tony Pulis. Barnsley have given Stoke City an extra 2,411 tickets for the Boxing Day match at Oakwell.

Stoke have already sold more than 1,500 tickets and now could be backed by more than 4,400 supporters. Tickets are available for season ticket holders and official members and will go on general sale on Thursday.

A seat in the North Stand costs £23 for adults, £16 for over-65s or under-21s, £10 for under-18s and £5 for under-11s.

Stoke add in their announcement: “Fans looking to stand are advised to purchase tickets at the back, whilst those looking to sit are advised to purchase at the front.” Oakwell was the venue for Michael O’neill’s first match as Stoke manager back in November 2019. That day, more than 3,000 fans made the trip and made a din all afternoon as Stoke ran out 4-2 winners.
