FAMILIES are demanding to know when roadworks being carried out in their neighbourhood will be finished.

The latest project in Baddeley Green comes on the back of various schemes from utility companies in the area which have also led to disruption for motorists.

Now work is continuing along Baddeley Green Lane – despite a sign claiming it would be wrapped up by the middle of November.

A sign, pictured right, put on the busy road had warned of work beginning on October 18 and running for approximately four weeks.

That project was taking place between Trentfields Road and Church Avenue – with work also taking place from the junction of Field Avenue with cones laid out just before the turn-off for Norbury Avenue.

It comes after various utility companies have been carrying out work in the area.

Back in August, as reported by The Sentinel, temporary lights on the busy Milton crossroads, coupled with work on Leek New Road, sparked long delays in the area.

There have also been gas works in Milton while telecommunications works have also been carried out around the villages too.

Now residents are hoping to see the latest scheme, thought to be relating to electricity cables, completed soon.

Student Charlotte Hallam, aged 20, who lives on Baddeley Green Lane, said: “There’s been quite a few roadworks in this general area. It feels like we’ve had roadworks for months. It feels like it’s never-ending.” Mark Beeson, a 42-year-old electrician, of Baddeley Green Lane, said: “It should have been for four weeks.

“It was a big inconvenience when the lights were directly outside – but I understand why the work needs to be done.”

Antoinette Bourne, aged 46, also of Baddeley Green Lane, said: “We’ve been trying to have some work done and it was a bit awkward when we had deliveries of cement. “The workmen have been really polite. “We did have a letter to say they were going to start working weekends.

“There has been congestion in the area as it is causing issues with traffic.”
