SHOPPERS have been left impressed after B&M opened its newest store on Festival Park.

The store, which opened at 9am on Saturday, stocks everything from food and groceries to furniture and homeware. And it has a garden centre at the back.

The discount retailer has promised shoppers it will be ‘the perfect place to find everything you need for the week ahead’.

It has opened in the former Go Outdoors unit, with the previous tenant quitting to take over the former Mothercare and Outfit branches elsewhere on Festival Park.

And the first customers loved what the store has to offer.

Daisy Nixon, aged 79, of Baddeley Green, was one of the first through the doors. She said: “I think it will do well here. The staff are brilliant and there is free parking which helps.”

Christine Mountford, aged

58, of Basford, wanted an artificial Christmas tree. She said: “All the other stores have sold out so I thought I would come and see if it has my tree. They did not have the one I wanted but I got some baubles and some Christmas lights.”

Jane Moran, aged 56, of Sandyford, said: “I like B&M. I like the prices, you can get a lot of things at once and there is a lot of variety.”

John Austin, aged 52, of Alsager, above, picked up an artificial Christmas tree. He said: “It is nice and looks good.

“I came for a Christmas tree and am now going to put it up.”

Ryan Cope, aged 25, of Tunstall, said: “I can buy everything I need here. The staff are very friendly.”

Gary Goodall, aged 60, of Weston Coyney, added: “It is a lovely store. We will definitely be coming back.”

The branch, which has 70 staff, is open from 8am to 9pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday. It will complement existing B&M stores across North Staffordshire in locations including Leek, Hanley, Longton, Wolstanton, Trent Vale, and Burslem.

It also represents another discount retailer setting up on Festival Park after Home Bargains launched in the one-time PC World unit back in September.

MP Jo Gideon, who went along to check out the new B&M, said she was pleased to see a new store open up. She said: “It’s great to see B&M opening a new store in Stoke-ontrent Central on Festival Park and creating new jobs for local people.

“I had a walk round this morning and it was great to see how popular it is. I wish them all the best.”
