RED-LETTER DAY FOR CLAYTON AS WIN PUTS THEM TOP OF PREMIER TABLE

- Chris Travers Staffs County Senior League

REDGATE Clayton took over at the top of the Premier Division with a 2-0 victory at Lichfield City Casuals.

With previous incumbents AFC Alsager seeing their game against Foley Meir postponed because of the weather, Redgate seized their chance to leap to the summit.

Dave Ashley put them ahead in the 18th minute before a late Kieran Wild strike secured the points.

Brereton Social now have a firm grasp on third spot following an impressive start to the campaign with their latest victory being by a single goal at Eastwood Hanley.

With the South Staffordshire side having the lion’s share of possession, their breakthrough coming via a ‘goal of the season’ contender from Jay Ford with a free-kick.

Early pace-setters City of Stoke slumped to their third successive defeat with a 2-1 loss at Silverdale Athletic.

The Kent’s Lane side went ahead through Macauley Davies on 27 minutes and then he added a second on 66 with Reece White replying two minutes later for visitors from Kiln Park.

A mid-table clash saw Wolstanton take on Leek CSOB at Bradwell Community Centre with the hosts’ sealing the three points with two second-half goals from Jamie Kempson on 52 and 79 minutes.

Audley thumped Hanley Town 4-0 in a basement battle. Joel Dale’s double and singles from Aiden Blaise and Callum Middleton settled the issue.

Ball Haye Green defeated Abbey Hulton United in their meeting.

James Halfpenny put visitors Abbey Hulton ahead - but the second half was a different story.

Leek equalised through Ollie Mellor shortly after the break with Alex Cimino adding a further two on 53 and 56 minutes and Jacob Bode rounded off the scoring on 80 minutes.

Milton United continue to forge ahead at the top of Division One after beating Redgate Clayton Reserves.

A Scott Bew hat-trick and a brace from Reece Thompson did the damage for Milton, with Jay Finney and Tim Bowyer replying for the hosts.

Second-placed FC 41 continued their impressive start with a 4-0 win at Whittington.

Their goals came from Matt Plant, a double from George Burslem and Kieron Lawton.

A Lee Mountford goal on 49 was added to late on with double strikes from Brandon Everill on 68 and 84 minutes.

The cold and blustery conditions were in evidence at Red Street Community Centre where hosts Chesterton took on City of Stoke Reserves. An early Ross Mcdonald goal for Ches was cancelled out by a spectacular, wind assisted effort by Jordan Condliffe.

Evergreen City of Stoke striker Condliffe then notched a second with an almost identical strike. Not to be outdone, Ross Mcdonald equalised with a spectacular long distance for the home side, the ball arrowed into the top left corner, giving the keeper no chance at all.

Madeley White Star claimed a third win in four with a 5-1 success against Abbey Hulton Development.

In Division Two, leaders Pelsall Villa Colts lost their first game after being beaten by Milton United Reserves.

Lewis Fereday put the hosts ahead on 15 minutes with the travelling Walsall outfit equalising on 19 minutes through Jack Taylor.

AFC Alsager Development moved into third with a four-goal thumping of Walsall Phoenix Development at The Sports Hub.

The only goal of the first half came from Sam Steele on 27 minutes, but strikes after the break from Jordan Rigby, Tommy Johnson and Finlay Smith ensured the points went to the South Cheshire side.

Stone Dominoes FC sit comfortably in fifth place following a five-goal rout of fellow newcomers Three Spires Utd.

A brace apiece from Luca Chandler & Kobie Kelley and a single from Callum Foxley caused the heartbreak.

Brereton Social Development suffered something of a torrid time at home to Florence Youth Development.

Florence netted six without reply with Stephen Allen and Josh Clayton on target twice each with additional strikes coming from Ed Carter and Davie Robinson.

Elsewhere, Blurton Reds edged out Huthman FC by the odd goal in a seven-goal thriller.
