A TEENAGER involved in a conspiracy to supply four different drugs has been spared jail.

Amaar Khan was aged 17 when he was arrested in 2017.

Police raided a flat in Burslem and found large amounts of three class A drugs - cocaine, heroin and crack cocaine, and class B drug cannabis.

Khan turned up at the flat when police were still there.

Now four-and-a-half years later, the 22-year-old has been sentenced to 23 months in prison, suspended for 18 months, at Stoke-on-trent Crown Court.

Prosecutor Amrisha Parathalingham said police searched a flat in Lancashire Court, Burslem, at 12.30pm on December 7, 2017.

“It appeared the flat was being used to cut and prepare drugs. There were large quantities of heroin, crack cocaine, cocaine and a cutting agent,” said Ms Parathalingham.

“At 4.30pm, police heard voices and saw two men. Khan asked, ‘What is going on’?

“Khan said he was visiting a girlfriend but could not say which flat she lived in.

“He was found to have £175 on his person.”

Khan answered ‘no comment’ to questions in a police interview.

Khan, of Clarke Street, Hanley, pleaded guilty to three charges of conspiracy to supply a class A drug, conspiracy to supply a class B drug and possession of criminal property.

Tim Savage, mitigating, said Khan was aged 17 at the time and, since his arrest, has behaved in an exemplary manner.

“He has matured and is studying at university.

“This is a young man who has made a big error,” said Mr Savage. “He would accept he mixed with the wrong crowd.

“He did the wrong things. But he learned a lesson.

“He has a positive future. He has shown a level of determination to turn his life around.”

Khan must also complete a rehabilitation activity requirement for 10 days and 180 hours’ unpaid work.

Judge Graeme Smith said: “You very foolishly involved yourself in this drug dealing operation. It is quite clear this was a significant operation. .”

The judge ordered the forfeiture of the £175.
