WILL NEVER FORGET’

-

possible way. League One here we come. Up the Vale.

Tim Wainwright: It was my birthday and, wow, a birthday I will never ever forget - thank-you for the memories Vale. I knew we were good enough go up, and to go up at Wembley, a special stadium in front of around 17,000 Vale fans, was brilliant. Thank you Darrell, Andy all the staff and a big thank you to Carol and Kevin for making Burslem rock again.

Carl Ziemann: I’d give you my opinion, but I’m busy eating humble pie in big dollops! Haha.

They swamped the Stags from minute one and never stopped running. It could have been five or six, we were that good and, although Wilson got man of the match, a shout has to go the Mal Benning. I have been critical of him but on Thursday v Swindon and today he was superb. That finish for the third… wow.

I am so happy today and especially for Darrell Clarke who has endured the personal lowest low possible so to see him smile and complete the job was brilliant. This club is moving forward and we have to build on this now.

Steve Baxter: Awesome performance, awesome wellsupported, great experience and atmosphere. The day and the victory was well earned and fully deserved. It is a day that will live in my happy memories box. Well done to all, you are a credit to us all, roll on next season.

Aaron Ashley: A great performance by all the team. Great early save from Stone to keep us in it. Then we just never gave them any peace in the first half. Second half they obviously went for it a bit and looked a better side than they did with 11. But we stood firm, defended manfully and always looked dangerous on the ball. It could have been 5-0 or 6-0 in the end. All the players played well but I think Benning needs a special mention he was outstanding today, his best game in a Vale shirt, and Wilson is just class.

Liz Ford: Only one side deserved to win and that was Vale. So pleased for the manager owners and supporters. Well played lads.

John Walker: So happy for the owners, manager and his back room staff, and special praise to a great group of players.

Pat Scragg: Unfortunately couldn’t get to Wembley but what a spectacle and what a performance! Each and every Vale player, staff member and supporter should be incredibly proud of themselves. A comprehensive win but not without chances for Mansfield - we should have gone 1-0 down early in the game but for Stone’s smart save. Delighted for Carol and Kevin they’ve transformed and revitalised our club. An emotional day for DC too - one I’m sure he’ll never forget. So proud - Up the Vale.

Alex Stevenson: In one day I’ve cried, laughed, sung, bitten my nails, cried again. Thank you every one of those players. You’ve written yourself into the folklore of Pope, Hughes, O’connor, Glover, Foyle, Aspin everything etc. I’m hoarse, broken, and overjoyed. Thank you. Bring on League One.
