SUPERFAN Zoe Hankey was at the front of the queue for the Robbie Williams gig at Vale Park after turning up on Wednesday.

THE 46-year-old, of Newcastle, was among dozens who were outside the Hamil Road ground on Saturday morning.

But unlike some, who turned up on Friday night or Saturday morning, Zoe was in place on Wednesday. She told The Sentinel: “I got here on Wednesday - I wanted to be towards the front. It’s been great.

“All these people I have met thanks to Robbie Williams. I know everybody sat here. It’s a community. I haven’t seen them for nearly three years. This is the first opportunity we’ve got together.”

Zoe says she’s thankful the weather this week has been on their side.

She said: “I’ve been a fan since I was 16. I’ve been to see him quite a lot. The weather has been really good and we’re so lucky. We have camped out in November and December before when it’s been freezing cold.”

Among the others outside the ground was Tracy Flather, who celebrated her 55th birthday on Saturday. Tracy, of Holmes Chapel, said: “We got there at 8.30am. I wanted to come even earlier. I’ve been to see him lots of times. I was excited for the gig. It was different seeing him here. I think he’ll be emotional about it.”

Friend Penny Milward, of Cheadle, couldn’t wait to see Robbie at Vale Park.

The 43-year-old said: “I love the fact that it’s a smaller venue. We saw him at Knebworth and it was very different.

“I was lookimg forward to this small venue. We have been fans for over 20 years.” Kerryanne Mulgrew travelled from Belfast - only to see her hotel cancelled. The 42-year-old said: “We got here at 10.30am on Friday to find our hotel cancelled. We were going to sleep here anyway but we wanted to drop our bags off. We stayed at another hotel on Saturday. I’m really excited - it’s been a long couple of years.” Gates opened at 4pm s queues snaked down into Burslem from Vale Park. Speaking ahead of the gig Robbie said: “I know the gig is going to be absolutely amazing.”
