ASIAN food chain Chopstix is looking to open more branches in the area following its launch in Newcastle.

The noodle bar has welcomed its first customers to its High Street outlet, which features a ‘wok-station’ where customers can see their food being prepared to either take out or eat in the seating area.

It also offers a unique menu concept where diners can choose the size of their box, pick a base item such as noodles or rice, then a topping.

Customers can then add a side dish such as spring rolls and a drink.

The Newcastle branch has been developed alongside franchisee group Sparta Foods, which previously opened and operated the Chopstix trial site in Burslem. It shares the former Edinburgh Woollen Mill unit with Planet Doughnut, which has already proved popular with customers since it opened last week.

Chopstix favourites include Salt ‘N’ Pepper Chicken, Chicken Katsu Curry and Caramel Drizzle Chicken.

Those looking for a healthier option can choose ‘skinny cauliflower rice’ which, teamed with any topping in a small box, comes in at fewer than 500 calories.

The firm says its latest branch is part of a major expansion that will see more new stores announced in the next few months.

Marketing director Rob Burns, said: “We’re so pleased to be opening the first Chopstix brick and mortar store in the area. We have such a loyal set of customers and we’re thrilled to be able to open a store in Newcastle.

“We can’t wait for customers to get a taste of what Chopstix has to offer. We’re here to mix things up in a faster, fresher, tastier way.”

The noodle bar’s dishes are also available to order from Uber Eats, Just Eat and Deliveroo. Orders are permitted from within the postcode area of the store. Chopstix is open every day from 10.30am until 11pm.
