THRILLING ENCOUNTER IS WON BY BOYS FROM BIGNALL END

BIGNALL End seconds edged out their Leek counterpar­ts by just two runs in their NSSCL Division Four meeting.

Bignall End managed to stick 202-7 on the board from their 40 overs, led by Ali Khan-ahmadzai’s 59 not out.

Khan-ahmadzai hit four fours and five sixes in his 29-ball knock to build on fine work by Seb Hopwood (47) and Oliver Thorne (41). David Alcock took a couple of wickets.

Leek appeared to be cruising to the points as Damien Harvey’s 63, featuring seven fours and three sixes, Kieran Carr’s 48 and 33 from Ebony Tweats, helped them to 144-2.

However, Bignall End battled back and twin strikes from Dave Quinton, Adrian Myatt and Horne saw Leek bowled out for 200 off the penultimat­e ball.

Bagnall Norton eased to victory at home against Moddershal­l & Oulton thirds.

Chris Truelove struck eight fours and two sixes in his 60, while Tony Dutton chipped in with 47 to steer Bagnall Norton to 217-6 from their allocation.

Luke Morris and Andrew Whitehurst weighed in with 32 apiece and Jake Bullough (3-50) took the bowling plaudits.

The Modd men tumbled to 52-9 in reply before a 10th-wicket stand of 44 between Archie Thorpe (36) and Chris Wright (12no) restored pride.

Their resistance was finally ended with the score on 96 as Rob Bennett snared 5-20 and Matthew Reynolds grabbed 3-18.

Crewe ran out six-wicket winners at home against Barlaston seconds.

Barlaston took first use and managed to reach 164 all out, in which Rob Aked made 52 and Sam Plant contribute­d 31.

George Galanis and Louis Bacon picked up 4-28 and 3-28 respective­ly.

Bacon made 38 in the run chase, but at 88-4, the match was firmly in the balance.

But Tate Rutter (48no) and Calum Meakin (36no) settled home nerves to see them past the post without further alarm.

Moddershal­l & Oulton fourths had no issues in sweeping past the challenge of Hem Heath thirds.

Ishara Weerasingh­e top-scored with 72, featuring 11 fours and one six, Shameera Weerasingh­e added 47 and Madeesha Eliyadura chipped in with 33 not out in the Modd men’s 232-7.

Dean Hodson and Callum Lovatt shared four of the wickets to fall in the innings.

Farhar Ul Islam replied with 28, but Dinesh Cooray’s 4-27, allied to double strikes from Nishantha Jayakody and Sadeeptha Jayathilak­a, ensured the visitors were bowled out for 71.

Porthill Park thirds executed a fine

run chase to bank the points from their home encounter with Onneley.

Porthill Park were chasing 183 to win and saw Harry Stubbs (47), Will Price (43no), Ryan Nolan (36) and Connor Uren (22no) impress to see them over the line, despite Mohammed Khalid’s 4-32.

That completed a fine day for Stubbs who had earlier taken 4-35 in Onneley’s 182 all out.

Jonathan Tatton and Matt Farr claimed double strikes, while Tom Salt (36) and Jake Short (30) made

the most progress with the bat for Onneley.

Silverdale’s Garry Porter produced a fine bowling performanc­e, but couldn’t prevent his side from being beaten at home by Audley. Porter grabbed 6-43, including four wickets in his final over, in Audley’s 207-9.

Finley Beswick compiled 68, which contained eight fours and one six, with James Rogers (32) and Dan Hammersley (30no) lending valuable support.

In reply, Silverdale were restricted

to 129-9 as Reece White made 34, David Moors struck 24 not out and Matt Smith weighed in with 20.

Lucy Shenton’s 4-7 did the damage, allied to double strikes from William Shenton and Richard

Beckett.
