Breathwork (pranayama)

Ayurveda teaches that the better you breathe, the more effectivel­y you nourish your body and clear it of ama (toxins).

Marma therapy

If the marmas (energy ‘junction boxes’) are clear and uncongeste­d, good health follows. Marma therapy involves physically stimulatin­g the points with direct pressure.

Ayurveda teaches that all the senses have an impact on our wellbeing, so physicians often prescribe particular colours, tastes, scents, sounds (music or mantras).

Specific routines are often prescribed to soothe disordered doshas. In addition, seasonal shifts can be suggested.

Massage therapy

Ayurveda has a wide repertoire of healing bodywork. Different types of massage can soothe particular doshic imbalances. Many treatments involve two therapists working in tandem, in complete harmony.

Prayers and rituals are often suggested to help boost healing and harmony.
