HOW TO MAKE NEW PLANTS

-

If you have a friend with a sweet cicely plant, dig around beneath it now and you should find a good few self-sown seedlings. Get your fork right in underneath one and dig it up, with plenty of root attached, before transferring it to your own garden or a large pot full of compost. To sow seeds you will have to wait until late summer or early autumn, when they have turned black. Always sow fresh seed from this year’s flowering, as they do not last well. Sow them into pots and keep them outdoors in a sheltered spot, or in a greenhouse or cold frame all through winter, and your new plants will be ready to plant out next spring.
