Emma. To throw a dinner party Austen-style: send invitations a month in advance, dress up, troop to the table led by the highest ranking lady and eat early. Austen types dine from 4pm ( Sense and Sensibility) to 6.30pm (the trendy Bingleys, in Pride and Prejudice).
