The Simple Things

PROJECT HAPPINESS

We love a patch, here at The Simple Things; from the ones we used to collect on seaside holidays as children, to the witty and wise modern versions of today. What could we put on a set of patches, we wondered, that would truly reflect what The Simple Things is all about? The answer was, well, simple: things that make us happy.

We’ve produced four patches – if they’re your cup of tea, you can buy one, two, three or the whole set at icebergpress.co.uk/shop.

We think of The Simple Things as a handbook for happiness, and in each issue we share ideas and inspiration that help us to connect with the people around us, to be active and get outdoors, to take notice and be curious, to keep learning and to give and be kind. These are the things we believe make us happier people and the world a better place.

Don’t just take our word for it. The New Economics Foundation, an independent think-and-do tank, researched the elements of wellbeing and came up with the same list of everyday actions. Some you’ll already be doing, others might need introducing into your life.

Show your support and be an advocate for happiness. Whether you sew your patch on to a jacket, bag or blanket, as a note to self or as a pat on the back, they will encourage others who see them to take time to enjoy the simple things, too. They’re also very sweet.
