My day in cups of tea
WE ASK PET FOOD ENTREPRENEUR HENRIETTA MORRISON TO DESCRIBE HER DAY IN CUPPAS
First cuppa of the day and what are you doing?
I’m an early riser so my first cuppa is usually a strong coffee. I’m up and out with my border terriers, Lily and Lulu, for a walk on Hampstead Heath when it starts to get light in the mornings. My home is close to the Heath so it feels like the middle of the countryside.
And then what’s next in your morning routine?
I’m the founder and CEO of Lily’s Kitchen and we make natural food and treats for dogs and cats. It’s a ten-minute walk with my dogs, who both come to the office with me. In the mornings, I tend to look at new designs and go through new recipes. It’s good to do this first thing when I’m feeling creative.
Time for a break. What do you fancy?
I’m a big fan of herbal teas and often harvest my own herbs for this. Otherwise it’s an earl grey with a splash of milk. We each have our own mug at work with our name on. There’s one particular person at work who makes the best tea ever but she’s on maternity leave – I’m counting the days until she’s back!

I love looking at our social media channels, seeing all the pictures of our customers’ pets and the antics they get up to. We’re preparing for Crufts at the moment, which is a wonderful chance to catch up with our customers.
When do you down tools for the day?
It’s usually Lily who decides. At some point, she will have had enough of being in the office, usually around 6 o’clock, and then I will put her lead on and we’ll head back home.
When do you get to relax with a cuppa?
Tea is a must at the weekends when I’m out in the veg patch. I’m always grateful to stop for a break and take a look at my (slow!) progress.
