The feel of warm sunshine and the glow of its radiant light just seem to make everything better, whether you’re outdoors walking, reading a book on the beach, or enjoying pottering in the garden. There’s just something about it that makes you smile. Here in Dorset, we love the sunshine, and we are extra lucky to enjoy 364 more hours of sunshine throughout the year compared to the UK average.

A CUP OF SUNSHINE

At Dorset Tea, we decided there must be a way to savour that special feeling those welcome rays bring, so we developed our very own cup of sunshine – a unique blend of black tea that tastes as lovely at dawn as it does at dusk. In fact, we think our tea tastes as good as the sunshine makes you feel, which is why we call it our Sunshine Blend.

BEST JOB IN THE WORLD?

At Dorset Tea HQ, there’s one room where the tea comes to life: master blenders Tony and Jimmy work together to create award-winning blends and ensure every cup of sunshine has the same great taste. When you walk in, the range of different sounds hits you: kettle boiling, spoons clinking against the teacups, and the sound of slurping. Did you know when you are tea tasting, you slurp the tea to release the flavours? It’s through this, what may seem like bad-mannered practice, that you can truly taste the quality of the blend.

BEHIND THE BREW

With over 60 years combined experience, our master tea blenders search the globe for some of the world’s finest tea estates – each chosen for the quality of their harvest, with no compromises. Dorset Tea Sunshine Blend brings together brilliant black tea crops from Kenya and Rwanda, with the addition of malty Assam, for extra depth of flavour. All are carefully selected for their different qualities – all from Rainforest Alliance Certified farms. “The result is a blend full of flavour and character that tastes truly special,” says Dorset Tea tea buyer Tony Warr. So how does the expert drink his Dorset Tea? “Brewed for four minutes to let as much of the wonderful flavour out, with just a dash of milk.” No wonder Dorset Tea’s Sunshine Blend has retained its Great Taste Award since 2010.
