A natural collection

DESIGNER GUDRUN SJÖDÉN TAKES INSPIRATION FROM NATURE FOR CLOTHES THAT ARE FUNCTIONAL, COLOURFUL AND FULL OF INTRIGUE

-

Gudrun Sjödén’s designs really do stand out from the fashion crowd. Of course, there’s that distinctive Scandi vibe – a flair for colour and a playful approach to design – but a love of textiles, print and nature also play a huge part in the creative process, with landscapes and flora often providing inspiration.

Gudrun has been designing textiles for more than 40 years, and the new autumn collection is a classic example of all that’s good about the label. Cut from natural fabrics such as organic linen, cotton, jersey and silk, the pieces are practical, sustainable and hardwearing, but always fun, drawing heavily on Scandinavian folklore and the beauty of those dramatic Nordic landscapes. “Landscapes, fruit and flowers are my basic materials; fruit for its various shapes, flowers for their beauty, and landscapes for their freedom, views and grandeur,” says Gudrun. “Nature is my power.” The rich forest colours and relaxed, easy-towear, layerable pieces are just the thing to take you into autumn.
