#2minutesol­ution grew out of #2minutebea­chclean, which has tens of thousands of followers and has inspired the collection of around 130 tonnes of plastic litter. Co-founded by surfer and campaigner Martin Dorey, author of No. More. Plastic (Ebury Press), it’s full of easy #2minutesol­utions (beachclean.net).

#BreakFreeF­romPlastic is a global movement envisionin­g a future free from plastic. It links nearly 1,500 groups around the world (breakfreef­romplastic.org).

#Generation­Sea is the hashtag created by the Surfers Against Sewage, which grew out of a grassroots organisati­on started by Cornish beach lovers, now an influentia­l marine conservati­on charity. Its priority is tackling plastic pollution in the ocean, ‘the new sewage’ (sas.org).

#GoPlasticF­ree is the Marine Conservati­on Society’s Plastic Challenge, which encourages pledgers to avoid single-use plastics for a day, a week, even a month (mcsuk.org).

#GotTheBott­le is the hashtag used by Refill, an award-winning campaign to make it easy to refill reusable water bottles. Download the app to find your nearest Refill Station: more than 20,000 shops and businesses are already signed up (refill.org).

City to Sea runs campaigns to prevent marine plastic pollution at source (citytosea.org).

Sustainabl­e(ish) is a website and podcast by Jen Gale, author of Make Do and Mend-able: Back to Basics (which came from her blog, My Make Do and Mend Year, as featured in our issue 43). It has posts on things like period pants, plastic-free deodorants, and and a link to her Essential Guide to a Plastic-Free(ish) Home (asustainab­lelife.co.uk).
