Dreaded leak through ceiling

-

WHEN you see water leaking through your ceiling you know it isn’t going to be a good day. That’s what Vicki Barnes of Cumbernauld faced – not once but twice.

Not one to stand in the way of progress towards a more eco-friendly nation, Vicki , 61, and husband James had been the recipients of a boiler upgrade through the Government’s scheme to improve energy efficiency.

Greenheat UK, of Bishopbriggs, near Glasgow, carried out the work.

Vicki was pleased with the new boiler and (presumably) the Government was also pleased to take another step towards its energy efficiency targets.

But then a water mark appeared on the living room ceiling. Greenheat replaced a faulty part.

But it was still leaking, so another visit had to be arranged.

The stained ceiling was bad enough, but then Vicki had a look in her linen cupboard. The water had quietly soaked in to her towels, bedding and spare curtains. Mildew had ruined it all.

Greenheat was called in again and, as well as arranging for a painter to fix the water-marked ceiling, a figure of £415 was settled upon to replace the linen.

But neither cheque nor painter seemed to be coming very fast so Vicki got in touch with Raw Deal.

Greenheat’s operations director Brian Mckevitt mopped up the situation by contacting Vicki to sort out the situation. A pleased Vicki said: “Thank you so much. I was getting nowhere with this. I very much appreciate it.”
