Killer’s stepson tried to keep sex crimes secret

THE stepson of race hate killer Imran Shahid has been convicted of carrying out two sickening attacks on young girls, a Sunday Post probe can reveal.

Jordan McKeown is facing a lengthy spell behind bars when he is sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow this week after being found guilty of attempting to rape a 13-yearold and sexually assaulting a 14-year-old.

Attempts had been made by the unemployed 20-year-old’s defence team to keep his crimes secret.

However, reporting restrictions were lifted after lawyers acting on behalf of The Sunday Post successfully argued the public had a right to know about his conviction.

Desmond Cheyne QC, who appeared for the Post in court, said: “An order preventing the details of his guilt was initially put in place by the trial judge.

“However, it was successfully argued it should be lifted as there was no reason for it to be kept in place and it was legitimately in the public interest for McKeown’s guilt to be reported.”

Last month, a jury took just 75 minutes to find McKeown guilty by majority verdict of two offences at the family home.

They heard how the musclebound youth carried out the two sex attacks three months apart in 2014 after luring both victims back to his bedroom.

On the first occasion a 14-year-old schoolgirl was only freed from his clutches when his mother banged on his door demanding why it had been locked for 40 minutes.

He attempted to rape his second victim after she came to visit.

A tape recording was played to the jury of McKeown’s police interview after he was detained on September 25 last year.

His legal advisor told him to make no comment, but he answered the officers’ questions. When the officers questioned him about the allegations, McKeown denied five times he’d done anything wrong, adding: “It’s a complete shock to me. They’re lying. No clue why they would, you’ll need to ask them that.

“They’re trying to ruin my life.

“Like all the other people in this town, they’re untrustworthy.”

But the jury didn’t believe him.

His stepfather Imran “Baldy” Shahid became one of the UK’s most wanted men after he fled Scotland following the murder of Kriss Donald.

The 15-year-old was selected at random by Shahid and his gang as revenge after they were attacked at a nightclub.

Kriss was taken on a 200-mile terror drive from Glasgow to Dundee and back before being stabbed repeatedly, doused in petrol and set alight while still alive.

His killers – ringleader Imran, his brother Zeeshan Shahid and Mohammed Faisal Mushtaq – fled to Pakistan but were brought back 19 months later.

They were jailed for life at the High Court in Edinburgh.
