Bookies targeted

MORE than a third of all serious crime against businesses targeted betting shops last year, the Met police have said.

Scotland Yard Flying Squad said a reliance on large cash transactions in lightly staffed shops led to the surge in crime.

Last year high-speed, highstakes gambling machines generated £1.7bn in revenue for bookmakers.
