Security delays

HOLIDAYMAKERS heading for Dover were hit with massive delays yesterday – because of increased security checks in France.

People were stuck overnight and others were stranded for up to 12 hours in tailbacks as they made their way towards the port.

Increased security checks were put in place by French authorities at the port in light of recent terror attacks.

But questions have been raised as to staffing levels in place. The situation was so severe a helicopter was used to provide water to motorists caught up in the delays.
