How galling, Sir Philip

-

AS that old familiar presence of BHS disappears from our high streets this week, the man who once owned it and sold it off for £1 in 2014 is holidaying on his new luxury £100m yacht in Malta.

Does Sir Philip Green give a jot about the hundreds of workers who have lost their jobs and possibly their pension pots?

Who knows... but I know where my sympathies lie.

Businesses fail. It’s a fact of life. But it is galling for the people who will be worrying about whether they can find another job or pay the bills in retirement to see Sir Philip and his wife Lady Tina Green basking in the Maltese sunshine.

A series of investigations on what went wrong at BHS are under way and MPs are due to publish their report next week into the collapse of the stores.

Let’s hope there are some answers which bring a degree of comfort to those who are facing an uncertain future. They deserve it.
