To miss out on her Olympic mission

-

“You were hearing more about it.

“There have been a couple of Brazilians who have played a few tournaments on the LPGA Tour in America and other players have been speaking to them.

“The girls have been explaining that it’s winter down in Brazil and there are not so many mosquitoes in the winter.

“Everyone is pretty happy with how things have gone and is not too concerned.

“It’s disappointing to see the men pull out. Obviously the players have given their reasons which you have to understand but it is disappointing.

“Ladies golf will probably benefit a lot more from the Olympics than men’s golf ever would.

“They get so much exposure already, so for the ladies to get in there and get much more Media exposure and exposure to people who don’t normally play golf will be great for us.

“I just hope with the men not going that doesn’t lead to golf coming out of the Olympics.

“The ladies are fully supporting it, so hopefully we can stay in it.

“It’s important that we try to grow the game. As you get older in your career, that becomes more important.

“You’re a role model and part and parcel of is that hopefully you are encouraging boys and girls to take up the sport.”
