The Fall: Decker vs Budd

Sky Atlantic, 9pm, Friday

-

It was one of the most anticipated duels of the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

Zola Budd, a 17-year-old South African who had been persuaded to flee the country’s apartheid regime and run for Great Britain, versus Mary Decker, the home favourite, in the final of the women’s 3000m.

What happened next is part of sporting folklore as neither woman won a medal. Now they’re reunited for the first time in 30 years.
