The good old school holidays

RECENTLY, I heard ladies in my club saying: “You never see children playing in the street during the school holidays anymore.”

My reply was that there are so many cars on the roads that it’s too dangerous to play football, kick-the-can or rounders outside.

Also, they’re not allowed to put chalk on the pavements while all the closes now have security doors on them – no more chasing each other happily through the back-courts of tenements.

Oh, for the good old days.
