Fabulous festivals could be tram-tastic!

-

AS the curtain is drawn tonight on this year’s Fringe Festival and Tattoo, Edinburgh looks set to break more records.

Last year an audience of more than 4.5 million attended Auld Reekie’s events, an attendance level second only to that of an Olympic Games, generating a stonking £280 million for the city.

Such sums are more than enough to pay for a couple of lengths of tram track for Leith.

What should also be celebrated is that almost 90% of locals surveyed said the festivals increased their pride in the city.

A RECENT report from the UK Cards Association has highlighted that a stiletto-staggering £7 billion per year is spent by the fairer sex on fashion. Nothing fair here, given that men only spend a minuscule £1.5 billion by comparison!

So much cash squandered to have most of their clothes lying, unworn and uncared for, in cupboards and cluttered wardrobes or, in the case of shoes, anywhere there’s a space.

Spending money like it’s going out fashion, indeed!

I read somewhere that, unbeknownst to many lucky owners, their designer-filled wardrobes could be worth more than the cost of a new Ferrari.

Only problem is there’s no car dealer I know willing to do a trade in!
