REMARKABLE RESULTS

-

BATTLING mum Lesley Graham who took on the government in her bid to access Kadcyla last month, has enjoyed remarkable results.

After just three treatments in her first session, scans showed her bone cancer had stopped, her liver cancer had shrunk by a third and the cancer in her brain was halved.

Lesley, from Barrhead near Glasgow, also battled breast cancer and was given the allclear in January.

In April it had returned and spread to her liver, ribs and brain. She was given four to six months to live but was denied access to Kadcyla because she lived in Scotland.

She said: “Everything happened so quickly after I contacted The Sunday Post.

“I was given the drug, had great results and I feel fantastic. I’m now on my second session, and if I continue to make such good progress I’ll have my third in September.

“I told Anne not to give up. She must fight, shout, scream, whatever it takes to be heard, because this nonsense has to stop.

“Women are being denied access to a drug that’s available on the NHS in England, as the Scottish Government think it’s too dear.

“If we start paying for our own treatment then it should be right across the board – let’s see the outrage that would cause.

“I hope Anne has the kind of success I’ve had. She has two wee boys and I’ve got two girls.

“We’d like to be here long enough to see them grow up and should have access to whatever we need to stay alive.”
