Bell is spot on three times as United win

-

DUNDEE UNITED can thank the safe hands of goalkeeper Cammy Bell for their three points at Dunfermline.

In front of a very healthy 5563 crowd, the former Rangers lastliner saved three penalties in the first-half from three different Pars players.

The keeper saved a Gavin Reilly penalty before Simon Murray opened from close range for United on 21minutes.

Bell then kept out 12-yard efforts from Nicky Clark and Paul McMullan before Tony Andreu kept up his scoring form after his debut last week by driving home to put them 2-0 up just a minute after the interval.

Michael Paton reduced the arrears soon after, then United’s Paul Dixon was sent off for two yellow cards.

Andreu, on loan to the Tannadice club from Norwich City, then secured victory in stoppage time for the Tangerines with his second of the game.

A 32nd-minute penalty from Jason Cummings was all that separated Hibs from hosts Dumbarton.

The win keeps the Edinburgh side top by two points from Queen of the South, who came away from St Mirren with a 3-1 victory.

Prolific scorer Derek Lyle hit a first-half double for the Doonhamers, who had equalised through Tom Walsh.

The second-half was not long started before Stephen Dobbie extended Queens lead and that’s how it ended, leaving the Paisley Saints rooted in bottom spot.

Raith Rovers retain third spot, despite going down 2-0 to visiting Falkirk.

John Baird put the Bairns in front on the half-hour, with Tom Taiwo netting the second after 72 minutes.

Goals from Paul Cairney and Alan Forrest had Ayr United 2-0 in the lead against Morton at Somerset Park. Any chance Jim Duffy’s outfit had of getting back into the game faded in 72 minutes when Mark Russell was red-carded. However, they did manage to pull one back through Ross Forbes in 86 minutes but it was too little too late.
