RESTAURANT REVIEW

-

1 LOCATION

Right in the heart of the city’s bustling West End and on a main road, this restaurant is easily reachable by either car or public transport.

2 FIRST IMPRESSIONS

A small and cosy neighbourhood cantina decked out in colourful tiles – and exceptionally busy for a weekday night. In fact, the staff have to turn a few walk-ins away.

3 SERVICE

You definitely get service with a smile and, even though it’s busy, you still feel like the only table in the restaurant. Our waitress went above and beyond the call of duty to keep the tiny toddler we had in tow entertained. The mini margheritas and tortillas on arrival were a nice surprise.

4 MENU

The menu is a little seasonal, but the classics are always there – meatball soup, jalepenos stuffed with soft cheese, fajitas, tacos, burritos. Overall, a good selection of marvellous Mexican food and plenty of tasty fish and veggie option, too.

5 TASTE

The corn croquettes with sweet chilli jam and stuffed chillis with salsa got us off to a great start. The chicken fajitas, marinated in tequila, were lipsmackingly good as was the delicious pulled pork with a spicy chipolte sauce. Not a clean plate in sight.

6 PRICE

Bibi’s runs an early bird menu (two courses for £11.95 and three for £14.95) 12pm until 6.45pm Mon-Sat and all day Sunday and you certainly get enough nosh for your dosh. But the A La Carte menu is very reasonably priced if you go later on.

7 AMBIENCE

Buzzing, but very relaxed. Feels a bit like you’ve come round to a relative or pal’s house for a feed.

8 SOMEThINg SPECIAL

Don’t miss out on the speciality tequilas and frozen margherita cocktails (which come in a nonalcoholic version for any designated drivers) – and taking home a little bag of homemade fudge.

9 TOILETS

Nice, spacious and decked out with pretty pictures.

10 VERdICT

16/20 – Worth a wave!
