Imagination was all you needed

-

WHAT a thought-provoking and refreshing article about childhood games.

It’s so sad that they are now mostly a thing of the past.

Having been brought up in a close-knit community of Portessie, near Buckie, games were played from dusk to dawn, sometimes on the beach, but mainly on the street. There was very little traffic in those days.

We were easily pleased by simple pleasures and often just used our imaginations.

I LOVE to see chalk on pavements – it shows me that children are still children.

Here in Scotland, chalk doesn’t stay on the pavement for long – we have rain most days. These bairns may just be the artists of the future so leave them all alone, please.

J. T. Thomson, Penicuik.
