A mix of traditional and modern

-

As one of the fastest growing independent schools in Scotland, we blend traditional values, a historical Castle setting, and a modern ethos of helping each pupil find and develop their own unique talents in whichever field that may lie in; on the sports field, in the drama hall or in the classroom.

A brand new, state of the art Science Centre has just opened, to the benefit of all Lathallan School pupils. The Centre incorporates a Junior Science Laboratory, discrete laboratories for Biology, Chemistry and Physics as well as a working greenhouse laboratory for Environmental Science. These modern facilities enable our pupils to delve more deeply into Science, enhancing their understanding and enjoyment of all aspects of the subject.

Lathallan School, housed within a baronial castle dating from 1867, is set within sixty acres of secluded grounds. This provides ample space for children to play and learn in the outdoors, including our own bespoke climbing wall and zip line. A dedicated outdoor education teacher has helped Lathallan achieve the highest number of pupils participating in the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme in the UK.

Successes on the sports fields come thick and fast for Lathallan School pupils. With a call up to the U16 Scottish Rugby team for one of our pupils, a quarter final place in the Brewin Dolphin Cup, plus our own Rugby 7s tournament, now in its seventh year and still attracting teams from across Scotland, our pupils play an active part on the field.

The Arts are highly specialised here at Lathallan School too, with prizes and awards being won in this area. A fantastic sculpture by one of our S2 pupils claimed first prize in the Thorpe Malloy Art competition, and the Senior School production of We Will Rock You had toes tapping for weeks! A dedicated School Pipe Band have had another successful year, with planning underway for an exciting trip to New York for Tartan Day planned in 2017.

Trips, exchanges and expeditions have had a truly global reach, ranging from Greenland to South Africa, with some wonderful experiences had by the pupils.

With wrap around care, and classes until 5pm, Lathallan School is a fantastic choice for busy parents and families. A wide catchment area is covered by bus routes north into Aberdeen, west in Royal Deeside and south into the heart of Angus. Boarding is also available, on a full, weekly or flexi basis with boarding rooms located in the very Castle itself.

At Lathallan School, we pride ourselves on our core values of challenge, attainment and placing the pupil at the centre of learning. Why not visit us to find out more?
