HOW THEY PLAYED
DAVID MARSHALL 7
HAD to be sharp to deny Novikovas before everyone was back in their seat for the second half. No chance at the goal.
CALLUM PATERSON 6
POWERFUL going forward but still has rough edges when it comes to defending.
RUSSELL MARTIN 5
FORMED a shaky central defence with Hanley. Little to do before the break but they were shown to be slow and fragile during the second 45 minutes.
GRANTHANLEY5
RARELY tested early on but cumbersome when Cernych evaded him to play a one-two and score. A vital knock-on for Scotland’s equaliser.
ANDY ROBERTSON 8
ROBERTSON has Kieran Tierney and Lee Wallace breathing down his neck for the left-back spot but will be difficult to dislodge. Even a brutal elbow to the face couldn’t dampen his enthusiasm.
BARRY BANNAN 6
COVERED an amazing amount of ground. Might have conceded a penalty. Needs to convert that enthusiasm into an end product.
DARREN FLETCHER 6
ANOTHER steady showing on the Scotland captain’s 75th appearance for his country. (Replaced 45 by JAMES McARTHUR 7– headed what could be a priceless equaliser).
MATT RITCHIE 7
DELIVERED some dangerous crosses from set-pieces. Typically energetic but couldn’t produce the final killer ball. (Replaced 71 by LEIGH GRIFFITHS 6 – headed a decent chance at the keeper.)
ROBERT SNODGRASS 7
SCOTLAND’S main creative force. Delivered a perfect cross for Chris Martin in the first half. Always looking for an opening but clear-cut chances didn’t come his way.
OLIVER BURKE 6
LOOKED a little isolated on the wing but more dangerous when he drifted inside. Nearly set up Ritchie with a brilliant reverse pass. (Replaced 57 by JAMES FORREST 6 – the Celtic winger has been in great form this season but fired wide just after coming on.)
CHRIS MARTIN 6
GOOD link-up play but had it tough playing a lone role in the middle. Almost wrestled his way to a goal when he prodded a Snodgrass cross just wide.
