A COUPLE who interrupted their wedding celebrations to watch Still Game have received the perfect present from Jack and Victor.

We exclusively revealed last week how newlyweds Leanne and Stuart McSherry halted their nuptials so they could watch the comeback episode of the smash-hit comedy.

Their remarkable story sparked worldwide interest and even led actor Ford Kiernan, who plays Jack, to tweet a picture of himself holding up last week’s edition of The Sunday Post.

Now the delighted couple have been handed a late gift in the shape of free passes for the Still Game live show at Glasgow’s SSE Hydro. Leanne, 30, who works for the National Trust for Scotland, and forestry engineer Stuart, 31, were thrilled by the gesture.

Leanne said of her big night: “I waited all year for the new series to start, and it was a no-brainer that we would take half an hour out of the celebrations to watch it. It was stunning.”

The couple, from Dumfries, tied the knot at Edinburgh’s Norton House Hotel, planning their whole wedding evening around the opening episode. They had to change rooms to make sure they had access to a telly and asked guests to join them to watch the show.

Show co-creator Kiernan, 54, admitted he choked on his tea after reading our exclusive front page tale.

“I laughed out loud when I saw it in the newspaper,” he said. “It really did made me cough on my tea that somebody would go to that bother. What a great thing.”

The happy couple are now looking forward to a quiet honeymoon – after setting their TV to record! Meanwhile, more dates have been added to the run of Still Game live shows at the Hydro from February 4-16.
