Three cheers for the Florence triplets

- By Gordon Blackstock www.photoshopscotland.co.uk

WHEN Bobby Florence and wife Karen first appeared in The Sunday Post it was to talk about their new life as parents to triplets.

In 1995, we told how the Bishopbriggs couple were exhausted coping with their new brood.

The pair used to usher in Christmas with smoked salmon and buck’s fizz.

But when their three kids – Kate, Robbie and Jack – arrived in September of that year their lives were turned upside down and there was no longer any relaxing around the tree.

Instead, Karen told how looking after her three children had left her exhausted with the couple taking it in turns to get up during the night.

There were 21 nappies to change a day!

The pair hoped it would subside as the kids got older . . . little did they know.

Over the years the trio have given them a whole host of other headaches, leading to plenty more sleepless nights.

There was the time the boys – at just two – managed to hijack Bobby’s pristine Jaguar and ploughed it into the local petrol station shop while their dad was paying for fuel.

He’s never let them forget that.

And then there were the teenage years, when even angelic Kate tried their patience.

Thankfully now the hitherto hell-raising trio are all settled – Kate studying history at St Andrews and the two boys finishing up apprenticeships.

So last month they got together for a lavish birthday bash at Patrick Thistle’s stadium in the West End of Glasgow to celebrate the trio turning 21.

It was a good time for Bobby and Karen to reflect on their lives as parents.

Despite all the headaches and heartache, as they watched the triplets dance the night away they vowed it would be a journey they’d happily three-peat again!
