I’m Strictly behind Will

Model Daisy says she sent her ‘love and support’ after star quit top show

STRICTLY stars have rallied round entertainer Will Young who quit the show last week.

Will, 37, had been one of the favourites to win the show with partner Karen Clifton.

However, he stunned fans and fellow contestants alike with his announcement on Tuesday night that he was withdrawing for “personal reasons”.

Fellow contestant Daisy Lowe has revealed that the statement was a complete shock, but they’d all reached out to the star.

“We didn’t know about it,” the 27-year-old model told The Sunday Post. “We were told before the press release came out just to warn us.

“We are gutted because we love him but we respect and support his decision and wish him the best.

“But we are all heartbroken, and with the eliminations it is so sad because we feel like a family and get on so well.

“He will be missed. We all have ‘Whatsapp chat’ and have said we love and support him. He messaged back and said he was excited to watch us on Saturday night. He’s a gorgeous man.”

The Leave Right Now singer had an on-screen spat with head judge Len Goodman last Saturday.

And there had been reports he was finding the tough training schedule hard going having previously spoken of his post-traumatic stress problems.

But top model Daisy says nothing would force her to hang up her dancing shoes early.

“I love learning how to dance so much, I would hope that my love

of it would keep me going for as long as people will have me.”

Daisy is paired with pro Aljaz Skorjanec who won in 2013 with Abbey Clancy, and she admits she’d love to follow in Abbey’s footsteps.

“It would be a life’s dream come true to win Strictly, but I’m not putting that much pressure on myself,” she said.

“I’m just trying to get by week by week. I’m a bag of nerves as it is and I thought we were going home last week.”

The couple did a rhumba to George Michael’s Careless Whisper last night and despite many sexy modelling shoots she says turning on the sultry style in front of millions of viewers was tough.

“At least on photo-shoots you are in one room with one camera and it feels intimate,” she confides. “This is a different kettle of fish.

“It’s unlike anything else I’ve ever done and I’m a big bag of nerves.

“You say that I have done sexy shoots and should be better at getting sexy for dancing, but I was at my most comfortable dressed as a princess in the waltz.”

Former shadow chancellor Ed Balls has been a real series standout, winning viewer votes to stay in despite finishing bottom by the judges’ scoring.

“I love Ed, he’s just so much fun and I love how much he just goes for it and is completely fearless with his conviction,” says Daisy.

“It’s a lesson not to judge a book by its cover.”

Daisy has a Scots gran through rock singer dad Gavin Rossdale so she’s had a pre-Strictly dance taster.

“I went to a ceilidh before I started and it was such a laugh. Scottish dancing is a joyful experience.”

Strictly Come Dancing: The Results is on BBC1 tonight at
