My accent is dreadful, says Ewan
EWAN McGREGOR admits speaking in a French accent for the new Disney film Beauty And The Beast was a tongue twister.
Despite being married to French make-up artist Eve Mavrakis – and having four bi-lingual children – he can’t master the language.
The 45-year-old Scots star, who plays the “Casanova of candelabras”, said in the live-action remake he sounds more like a Mexican than Gallic charmer.
He said: ”It was not very good. I’ve been married to a French woman for 20 years, my children speak French, and I was dreadful.”
Beauiy And The Beast – which is released next March – is based on the French fairytale written by Jean-Marie LePrince de Beaumont in 1756.
