LIVINGSTON 3 ALLOA ATH 1

LIVINGSTON replaced Alloa at the top of the table after this convincing home victory.

Livi opened strongly and new signing from Ross County Rafa De Vita soon showed his class with a strong cross cleared by the Wasps keeper.

Danny Mullen’s header was then saved by the outstretched leg of Neil Parry in the visitors’ goal.

Greig Spence intercepted a passback and slotted the ball into the net past Livi’s Liam Kelly but he was offside.

Alloa were dealt a huge blow when defender Andy Graham was involved in a clash of heads with Sean Crighton and had to be replaced by Pat Scullion.

The hosts took control and they got the goal their play deserved when Mickey Miller opened in 55 minutes, firing in a speculative 18-yarder.

Ex-Alloa striker Liam Buchanan made it two in 61 minutes when he ran in on goal and fired past Parry. He then tied up the points for the home side in the 89th minute from close range.

Alloa got a consolation from a penalty in the 90th minute when Craig Halkett pushed Kevin Cawley and Greig Spence converted.

STRANRAER 1 EAST FIFE 1

STRANRAER failed to get going for much of the first half and it was no surprise when East Fife took the lead.

Kevin Smith held off the attention of Giuliano Morena and his cross found Ross Brown, whose mishit shot deceived Cameron Belford.

Stranraer came back into it after the break and forced Gary Naysmith’s men onto the back foot. The Blues were whipping in a number of crosses but failing to truly test Mark Hurst.

That was until Steven Bell rose to nod home Willie Gibson’s corner.

The club captain could have ensured all points stayed at Stair Park but he could not keep a second header down.

STENHOUSEMUIR 1 BREC HIN 3

BRECHIN could have opened the scoring after 14 minutes but Alan Trouten headed over from close range.

The home side came closest in the first period with Mark Gilhaney’s effort testing Graeme Smith.

Willis Furtado was sent off for a foul, and Darren McCormack was cautioned for his reactions.

The second half started with Brechin stretching the home defence and Paul McLean came close with a header that was cleared by Ciaran Summers.

At the other end, a McMenamin freekick was pushed clear by Smith.

Surprisingly, Stenny took the lead when Gilhaney’s cross drifted in at the back post.

They were not to hold on to the lead for long as Ally Love fired an equaliser four minutes later, and McLean put City ahead a minute after that.

Brechin, who are now at the top of the table, extended their lead in the 81st minute when McCormack headed home a Finn Graham corner.

AIRDRIEONIANS 4 QUEEN’S PARK 1

WITH nine minutes gone, Andy Ryan was brought down by Greg Fotheringham and Iain Russell netted easily from the spot.

Queen’s levelled in 23 minutes, also from the spot, after Daniel Boateng barged Dario Zanatta. Ross Millen fired the ball low past Rohan Ferguson.

Airdrie were soon back in front. Ryan was taken down as he raced into the box, this time by Ryan McGeever and Russell once again netted comfortably from the spot.

The Diamonds added a third goal in first-half stoppage time. Conroy’s front post delivery from a corner saw Scott Stewart power home a header.

No 4 for Airdrie came in 75 minutes after Ross Millen foolishly stretched out an arm to push the ball away and another penalty was awarded. Russell stepped up to fire home for a hat-trick of penalties.

Airdrie substitute Kevin Schmidt was red-carded in 87 minutes after kicking the ball at an opponent.

AL BION ROVERS 0 PETERHEAD 1

ALBION started on top and Paul Willis had an early opening but shot straight at the goalkeeper.

Ryan Wallace had an opening after 33 minutes but Graeme Smith saved well.

Albion always looked the more likely and Ross Dunlop volleyed narrowly wide in 38 minutes.

Rory McAllister almost punished the home side two minutes later but Ross Stewart was well positioned to keep out his effort.

McAllister worked himself an opening after 57 minutes but could not put his shot on target.

Wallace responded for the home side but did not manage to test Smith with 20 minutes left.

Jordon Brown finally broke the deadlock with his third goal of the season to put Peterhead in front with 12 minutes left – and lift his side from the bottom of the table.
