and Highlands — Patches of mist and fog and isolated showers at first. It will then be a mostly cloudy day with scattered showers, most frequent in eastern parts. It will be drier with spells of sunshine in western areas. Gentle easterly winds. Max 9-12C. Central and Clyde Coast — It looks set to be a largely dry and bright day with a variable amount of cloud. However, it might be rather cloudy for a time around midday. There will be a light easterly wind. Temperatur­es below the average. Max 8-11C. Scottish mountain forecast for climbers — Early patches of mist and fog will clear to leave a partially cloudy day with the risk of isolated showers. Gentle winds.
