TWO late goals helped Leeds United maintain their push for the play-off places.

It was the Yorkshiremen’s fifth win in nine matches as they stretched their unbeaten home run to six.

The hosts enjoyed the lion share of the chances with Chris O’Grady and Kemar Roofe going close either side of the break.

The home side then missed a great chance to take the lead when they blew a three-on-two after Hadi Sacko failed to spot Chris Wood in space. Burton were inches away from taking the lead when Ben Turner headed Matt Palmer’s cross against the bar on 35 minutes.

Sub Stuart Beavon headed over after combining well with O’Grady just after the restart.

The towering Turner headed over the bar from close range as Burton began to grow in confidence.

Shots in quick succession from O’Grady and Palmer were blocked after 55 minutes as Leeds frantically clung on.

Roofe fired just wide on the hour mark, after a superb pass from Luke Ayling carved open the Burton rearguard. Turner continued to dominate in the air as he beat his man to nod Palmer’s cross just over a minute later.

Jon McLaughlin pulled off a superb save to keep Roofe’s crisp low effort out on 66 minutes as Leeds upped the pressure.

Pablo Hernandez and O’Grady both fired over from set-pieces as Leeds began to build up momentum.

And Leeds finally took the lead with eight minutes to go when Wood rifled home from the spot.

Souleymane Doukara won the penalty after he was tripped.

He then got in on the act in the sixth minute of stoppage time by converting a Leeds counter-attack.
