14-year-old girl dies after crash

A TEENAGE girl has died following a car crash in Aberdeensh­ire.

Kirsten Duguid, 14, was a passenger in a silver Audi which left an unclassifi­ed road, near to the Mains of Arnage, near Ellon, at about 6.20pm on Friday.

The car overturned and ended up submerged in a burn.

Kirsten was taken to hospital suffering from serious injuries but later died.

Another girl, 12, and the 43-year-old male driver sustained minor injuries.

Kirsten’s family said “her kindness, generosity and kind-hearted spirit touched many”.

Police Scotland said officers assisted in removing both girls from the vehicle which was submerged in water. All three were taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

In a statement released through police, the 14-yearold’s family said Kirsten will be “sorely missed”.

They added: “Our deepest and heartfelt thanks go to all first responders and the medical staff at ARI.”
