12-year-long fight to save church hall

-

THE congregation of a Scots Presbyterian church on Grenada is struggling to raise money to repair the kirk, which was destroyed by Storm Ivan 12 years ago.

St Andrew’s Church, which flies the Scottish flag from its tower, was badly damaged in 2004.

Even though the tower remains intact, the church hall was reduced to rubble.

Twelve years later, the church is still struggling to raise enough money to repair the building.

The Catholic church on the Caribbean island was repaired a few years after the storm, while work on the Anglican church is expected to be completed this year.

The foundation stone for the Presbyterian church was laid on St Andrew’s Day 1831.
