Parking scheme just the ticket

-

PAYING a parking ticket is a chore no one likes doing – but residents in a small town in Canada have turned it into a feel-good occasion.

The “Scrooge The Ticket” programme in Innisfil, Ontario, is allowing those with parking tickets to donate toys, gift cards or food to the needy instead of paying the hefty penalty charges.

The scheme, which runs until Friday, lets people opt out of the costs in return for helping the poor and homeless.

“We really saw our residents get into the spirit with this last year and we are excited to hold our second ‘Scrooge the Ticket’ campaign,” said Innisfil Mayor Gord Wauchope.

“No one likes to get a parking ticket, but this is a thoughtful way to have our residents give generously to a great cause leading into the holiday season.”
