A 70-year mystery

READING Peter Morris’s letter in The Sunday Post recently transported my memory back 70 years.

The war had just ended and I was an apprentice painter in Paisley.

One firm of paint manufacturers was called Riponamel and under the name on the tin was written Ripon Rowels.

I didn’t know what that meant – but I do now thanks to Mr Morris’ joke!
